What fun! I think most writers would love a literary vacation like this one! Thanks for taking us along and sharing the inspiration!

The imagined conversation with Wharton and James is a great way to open this piece, Fran. And what an inspired way to absorb the worlds of all of those writers. Now I'm curious about whether it's possible to visit the places of writers who aren't part of the literary canon, like Lorraine Hansberry and her Raisin in the Sun, Rachel Carson, Louise Erdrich, or Ursula Le Guin. Thanks for sparking ideas with this.
