"Growing old aint' for sissies," that's for sure. There's just so much to do that didn't burden us when we were young. So many doctors to see just to stay comfortable and alive. We weren't meant to live this long, and it's a full-time job just to keep from dying. Body alignment, practical clothes, crepey arms. Where are the rewards? Well, I got to live a wonderful life for 78 years. That's more than many who die young. So I've quit my bitchin.' But thanks for a funny story that resonates with many of us!

Beautifully said, with a lovely sense of humor, Carol! And thanks for giving me a rueful chuckle of recognition. My mom used to say half-humorously, half-mournfully, "It takes longer to be me these days."Now I know what she meant: some assembly is definitely required to put me together every morning too.

Carol, this is so REAL! Same here - breasts and whiskers and eyes and whatever else is coming when I turn 80 in 18 months. The image of you in the trunk of the car is priceless! Thanks you for being brave and honest and in an ironic way, celebrating who we are.
